Peter Millar

Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a local North East practice in 1983 and having obtained five years post qualification experience with a National firm, joined Gilchrist Tash in 1988 and became a partner in 1991.

His varied workload is centred around providing accounting, tax and business advice to a wide ranging portfolio of clients including businesses involved in agriculture, engineering and service sectors and his interest and experience in these areas is significant.

He believes that understanding client’s businesses as well as their personal and business goals is the key to meaningful service and enjoys delivering solutions including commercial planning scenarios.

Peter is the practice’s Managing Partner with responsibility for business development and promoting the strategy of the practice.

He is married with two daughters who are both in university education and enjoys spending time playing golf, gym training, hill walking, travelling and holidaying in the sun.

Lindesay Steel

Lindesay joined Gilchrist Tash in 1975 shortly after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and became a partner in 1980. 

He has specific interests in IT matters and rises to the challenge of maximising output of information from accounting systems in order to help clients understand their results and help them address business issues.  He works with an extensive client base of corporate and non-corporate business clients as well as personal clients and has significant experience in re-structuring business and personal situations with a view to maximising returns.

Lindesay is a solution seeker and is rarely short of words. He is married with one grown up daughter and enjoys most sports, nowadays as a spectator rather than a participator, and is proud to be a long term supporter of Darlington Football Club.

Fiona Parkin

Fiona graduated from Leeds University with a degree in accountancy and completed her training with Grant Thornton qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1977 before joining Gilchrist Tash in 1979 and becoming a partner in 1991.

Her workload centres around providing accountancy auditing and taxation advice to a broad range of clients including UK subsidiaries of overseas companies, corporate and non-corporate businesses and especially charities and not for profit organisations. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales Charity and Voluntary Sector Group.

Fiona believes that timely delivery of financial data and assistance to understand it are an essential component of client service.

Fiona is married with a son and her spare time is spent gardening and hill walking, preferably in sunny climates.

Craig McBride

Craig has been with Gilchrist Tash for fifteen years, having previously spent nine years with KPMG after graduating from the Universities of Durham and Newcastle.

He primarily deals with larger corporate clients, particularly owner managed businesses actively seeking to grow revenues and profits.  Craig aims to help businesses realise their goals, developing a close working relationship with business managers and owners, in addition to planning and managing corporate finance activities.  He also deals with a number of not for profit organisations and legal firms.

Craig is the firm's Quality Assurance and Audit Compliance Partner, having overall responsibility for audit work and maintaining the firm's high quality standards, and is a member of the ICAEW Audit & Assurance and Corporate Finance Faculties.  He also takes an interest the local affairs of our Institute, in his capacity as Secretary of the Teesside Branch of the ICAEW.

In his spare time Craig enjoys spending time with his young family, playing tennis, watching football and, occasionally, skiing.
